Polybag manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene), which offers high clarity and flexibility for apparel, and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), which provides superior strength and a crinkly texture for heavy-duty applications. For food-grade requirements, ensure the material is 100% virgin resin and BPA-free. Additionally, specify the thickness (measured in microns or mils); for example, standard shipping bags usually require at least 2.5 mils to prevent punctures during transit.

It is critical to verify that suppliers comply with REACH and RoHS standards for chemical safety. For products destined for the US or EU, ensure the bags feature suffocation warnings if the opening is 5 inches or larger. If your brand prioritizes sustainability, look for certifications like GRS (Global Recycled Standard) for bags made from post-consumer waste, or EN 13432 for compostable bioplastics like PLA or PBAT.

Focus on the seal strength and adhesive quality. For courier bags, a permanent destructive adhesive strip is essential for tamper-evidence. For retail packaging, evaluate the clarity (haze percentage) to ensure product visibility and the side-weld strength to prevent splitting. If the bags are for automated packing lines, inquire about the anti-static treatment to prevent bags from sticking together during high-speed processing.

Customization such as multi-color gravure printing involves initial copperplate cylinder costs, which are only economical at high volumes (typically 10,000+ units). To optimize costs, consider flexographic printing for simpler designs. Always request a pre-production sample to verify color accuracy (Pantone matching) and print alignment before authorizing a full production run to avoid costly batch errors.

The most common risk is material substitution, where a supplier mixes recycled scrap into virgin resin to lower costs, resulting in odor or reduced transparency. Mitigate this by using Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and requesting a Third-Party Inspection (such as SGS or Intertek) to perform a smell test and tensile strength test before the final balance payment is made.

Polybags are relatively heavy but compact. To reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), negotiate FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your freight forwarder. Since polybags are often dense, shipping via Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is significantly more cost-effective than air courier. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty corrugated outer cartons and palletization to prevent moisture ingress during long-term sea transit.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification on the platform. Use Escrow-based payment systems provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Avoid transferring large sums via unprotected wire transfers to private accounts. For large-scale annual contracts, consider a staged payment structure (30% deposit / 70% against B/L copy).
